A Legacy of Craft, A Table for All
It started with family
You don’t need a passport to taste something unforgettable
After a long career in wholesale distribution, Larry Wines thought that owning a vineyard would be the perfect retirement hobby for himself, and his family, especially considering their last name, Wines.
The transition from growing and selling grapes to local wineries to crafting wine at Wines Family Vineyard began a few years after acquiring the vineyard when he met another Larry; Larry Frichtel. Frichtel had been in the winemaking business for twenty years, with the last twelve years spent at his family’s winery, Lost Creek Winery; also located in Marthasville.
The sale of Lost Creek Winery opened the door for conversations between Wines and Frichtel about producing wine at the Wines Family Vineyard. While at Lost Creek, Larry Frichtel had taken part in and won awards at wine competitions in Missouri, New York, California and even Berlin, Germany. It’s clear he has the expertise to create outstanding wines and the Wines family is excited that he has chosen to join our team.
Our Values
Quality
Every vine is hand-tended. Every batch is small. Every decision is made with flavor and clarity in mind. We don’t rush or cut corners because you’ll taste the difference.
History
Our vineyard sits on ancient glacial soil and grows in the shadow of winemakers who settled this land in the 1800s. This isn’t just wine, it’s rooted in a place.
Family
We believe wine should be shared. Around kitchen tables. At celebrations. With the people you love. Our name is on the bottle because our story is in it.
A Word from Larry
“We’re not trying to become a massive brand. We just want to make wine that makes people say,
‘Wow… where did this come from?’
And when they find out it came from Missouri, they’ll never underestimate it again.”
What We’re Here For
We don’t aim to be fancy.
We aim to be real.
The kind of winery that gives you something worth opening—
for dinners, for holidays, for the quiet Thursday nights when life finally slows down.
If you love wine and believe where it comes from matters,
you’re already part of the family.
